BRANCASTER MARSH

This stretch of marsh is typical of so many along this part of the beautiful Norfolk Coast. Owned by the National Trust access is free of charge though if you have to park with the 'Bucket and Spade Brigade' there may be a car park fee! If you park in the beach car park do take note! The road does flood at certain times!

A wide variety of birds can be encountered here. Bearded Tits frequent the reed bed and can be found all year, as can: Redshank, Little Egret, Cormorant, Skylark, Meadow Pipit and Reed Bunting. During the spring and autumn many species can and have occurred. Hobby, Wryneck, many waders, shearwaters, thrushes and warblers.Winter brings with it a good selection of raptors, sawbills, thrushes and buntings.

Phragmites Reed is common, whilst on the marsh Sea Lavendar and Sea Aster can be found

As you approach the beach from the village there is a small pull in on the left. If there is space park here and walk back a short distance towards the village. The path is on the left through the reeds and becomes a board walk after a while.
